We left our life in the US with our four kids - 9, 7, 5 and 2 - to exchange houses, cars, schools, friends, and languages with a French family in the Cote d'Azur. Who knows what will happen in this life?
When Sam's friend Romeo came over to play, he brought us these beautiful tulips and a small toy for Sam. I am continually impressed by the thoughtfulness of the French families that we encounter in Mougins.

After a home exchange in the south of France in 2007-8, our family of six decided to stick around a little longer. We live in an old French farmhouse that was built sometime in the mid-late 1800's.

I can't believe what I cynic I've becoming since moving here - I would've thought that the only reason they do it is because it's expected of them (ie. it's a cultural expectation that when you go to someone's house, you bring something)!!
Stasha- I just realized today that you knew our good friends here in Meridian, Idaho, Blake & Andrea Thurman knew you and Dave in California. They say "Hi!"
